Ecomass® Compounds
are nontoxic, high density, thermoplastic composite materials that
can be formulated up to the density of lead (11.0 g/cc).
These eco-friendly materials can be used as a lead replacement or lead substitute, but
unlike lead, they are completely nontoxic
and can meet some of the most demanding physical
property requirements utilizing a variety of polymers
and metal powder weighting agents. Ecomass Compounds
meet the EU RoHS Directive and are completely lead-free (Pb-Free). Best of all, Ecomass Compounds
can be injection molded, compression molded, and extruded on
conventional equipment.
Over one hundred Ecomass
Compounds ranging in density from 2 g/cc to 11 g/cc are commercially available from Ecomass Technologies and
compounds are continuously being developed for weighting, balancing,
radiation shielding and vibration
dampening products. To date, Ecomass
Compounds have been used as a replacement or substitute for aluminum, steel, stainless steel, brass, bronze, copper,
lead, and tungsten in a variety of applications. Ecomass nontoxic frangible projectiles used in military and law enforcement frangible ammunition for training purposes have become a significant application for Ecomass Compounds.
Physical Properties and Material Safety Data Sheets for many of our standard
products appear on the Products

In almost any application where
a high density material is required, lead-free Ecomass Compounds
can be used without the environmental, health, or
toxicity concerns of lead. A variety of examples
where Ecomass Compounds have been used as a lead
replacement or lead substitute and have helped customers achieve
their goals can be found on the Case
Studies page. If you have a special requirement,
